‘It’s not rocket science…Oh, wait… actually IT IS!’

We were thrilled to welcome Carlos and Neil to the Springfield School Primary site last week to give pupils in Key Stage 2 a lesson in rocket science!

Carlos is one of more than 30,000 STEM Ambassadors around the UK who volunteer their time, enthusiasm and experiences to encourage and inspire young people to achieve more and progress further in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). For his day job Carlos works at RAF Brize Norton with Neil who is a supporter of our school and Grandad to pupil, Jamie. Last week they both gave up a day of their time to come and teach pupils in Key Stage 2 how to make and launch their very own rockets.

Everyone had so much fun and was amazed by how high the rockets could go! Pupils made and decorated their own rockets and then got to launch them. Carlos and Neil did a brilliant job of making the science enjoyable and accessible for everyone involved.
