Anjali Dance Company delivers inspiring workshop to Springfield pupils

We were delighted to welcome members of the Anjali Dance Company to Springfield School on Monday for an inspiring workshop for pupils in Key Stage 2 and 3. Anjali celebrates the creative abilities and artistic potential of people with learning disabilities and demonstrates exciting new possibilities in dance. All of our pupils who took part loved the workshop and really enjoyed the freedom dancing gave them. The staff had a great time too – although they definitely need to work on their moves!

It was brilliant to see the Anjali dancers showing our pupils how much they can achieve and the pride they clearly take in their dancing.

As well as working with world-class dance artists and choreographers to train talented individuals and create and tour original dance work which is performed by dancers with learning disabilities Anjali also run a successful youth dance company, Young Anjali, and an Education and Outreach team of dancers with learning disabilities who teach and lead workshops.

Anjali Dance Company enables people with learning disabilities to achieve excellence, provides positive role models and encourages the integration and inclusion of people with learning disabilities in the Arts and in society. They have performed at venues throughout the UK, including the Royal Festival Hall, Sadler’s Wells and the Royal Opera House in London (with dancers from the Royal Ballet). Anjali’s performances have been highly praised by critics and reviewers.

We hope they will come back again soon!
