The Springfield Duke of Edinburgh Awards Team spent a fabulous day on the river this week, honing their canoeing skills in readiness for the D oF E expedition in May.
Our Instructors from Adventure Plus taught us how to hold a paddle before getting into the boats, then we were off! The sun shone and it we spent a lovely two hours practicing manoeuvring the canoes and playing some crazy games.
Some of us worked harder than others!
Finally, it was time to return to terra firma for some lunch.
After lunch we worked on our camping skills – putting up tents can be tricky!
Once we’d got that mastered we rewarded ourselves with a hot choclolate! All in all, we had a great day and can’t wait for the expedition in May!
